La Dame aux Coquelicots

The poppy is a flower of the margins: it grows at the edges of fields, along roadsides, in the spaces left free. In Barbizon it has become the motif of a craft practice that prefers the workshop to the usual channels. Fabienne set up hers in the courtyard of the former Hôtel des Charmettes, a passage she shares with Bérengère Evain's atelier and, at the far end of the same property, the Besharat Gallery. A small world of makers and artists gathered within the walls of one of the village's historic hotels.
