Mairie de Barbizon
13 Grande Rue, 77630 Barbizon
The place
The mairie at 13 Grande Rue was inaugurated in 1957. Before it housed the village council, the building had been the home and studio of the painter Louis Masson, then an annex of the Hôtel de la Forêt. That Barbizon's town hall occupies a former artist's studio is entirely in character: almost every house on the Grande Rue has passed through a painter's hands at some point.
