Maison de Charles Jacque
24 Grande Rue, 77630 Barbizon
The building
Charles Jacque, a painter and engraver closely associated with the Barbizon School, lived and worked here. After his death the house passed to fellow painter Georges Gassies. Gassies' granddaughter Jeanne lived in the house until 2003, dying just before her hundredth birthday — a direct human thread to the original Barbizon generation.
